  • Elem was a central hub for cultural ceremonies and practices. 
  • In 1871, one of these ceremonies was known as the Bole-Maru, Kuksu, or Earth Lodge ceremony. 
  • Wodziwob, a Paiute shaman from the Walker River, tribe in Nevada's Prophecy was adopted. Later the ledgendary Wavoka would continue this profacy .
  • Traditional disciples included; Sheep-head, Awutu, Butcuduk and Munkas, and Lam Bill of the Patwin.

FAMILY TRADITIONAL HISTORY: My Father Jim Brown Jr's Mother is from Elem was Lena Leon Brown is one of three Daughter of the Elem Chief Thomas Leon and the last female Elem Chief. She had her own regalia and her oldest son Hougton Brown was the Elem Roundhouse captian
